LI Tip: Reach Out and Make New Connections

This month’s LinkedIn Tip: Reach Out and Make New Connections

I’m betting that you’re always finding a post or a comment you find intriguing when you scroll through your feed. And I also bet you check out profiles now and again — how often do you come across a person you want to connect with…and don’t? Why is that?

If you find a profile that attracts you, hit the Connect button and include a note to the person as to why you’re sending the note – something caught your eye, so mention that.

Or if you’d like to connect with people at a certain company, in a certain location, or with a particular job title, take advantage of the search capability on LinkedIn. You don’t need a paid version of the platform to do some specific searches. And like above, when you find someone you want to connect with — make sure to include a note as to why you’d like the connection.

Please don’t simply hit the “Connect” button and sit back and hope the person will connect — give them a reason.

You wouldn’t just run up to a person, tap them on the back, and walk away hoping they’d call you later, would you? Of course not!

Write a short note with each Connect request – it’s like extending your hand and introducing yourself!

Feel free to reach out to connect with me on LinkedIn, if we aren’t already connected; mention you saw this post!
